cyperus haspan 14cm

Cyperus haspan is often treated as a house plant here in the UK because it's not fully hardy. However, this also makes an excellent subject as a marginal or pond plant, although it might need winter protection.

Also known as 'Egyptian paper rush' this grass-like plant has mop-like heads of spikelets high on triangular stems. It is thought that Moses' cradle was made from this species.

  • As a house plant, this should remain evergreen if the temperatures remain over 15C.
  • Can also be used as a marginal pond plant.
  • Protect from frost.
  • Likes water - keep moist with as much light as possible.
  • Makes an excellent conservatory plant.
  • Flowers August-September
  • Plants are approximately 60cm tall and are growig in a 14cm pot.
