Ficus Elastica is often referred to as the rubber plant because of its white latex sap, which was once used to make rubber. It is an evergreen tree with many branches of elliptic to oblong large glossy leathery foliage. In the wild it can grow to over 30 meters in height, but grown indoor it tend to stay a much more manageable size.
It produces oblong yellow figs in the wild, this is however uncommon when grown as a house plants, though you might be lucky.
Rubber plants like bright indirect light best, but will tolerate a moderately shady spot too.
Has no specific humidity requirements.
The Rubber Plant likes to get completely dry between watering so let the top 5cm of soil dry out completely before watering it thoroughly.
