Fun Facts
These plants mimic stones in their natural environment of Africa. Their name comes from the Ancient Greek words lithos, meaning stone and ops, meaning face. There's always a good reason for camouflage and in this case it's in order to avoid being eaten by animals. Grazing animals which might be tempted to eat them during periods of drought in order to obtain moisture, usually overlook them. Even experts in the field sometimes have difficulty locating plants for study because of this unusual deceptive camouflage.

Usually a southern window is the best location, unless it exposes the plants to full sunlight most of the day, which should be prevented.
Watering
Water this succulent plants about once per week during the growing season, from May onwards. Allow the pots to almost dry out before the next watering. Keep the compost try throughout the winter, from the end of October through to May.
