Miscanthus sinensis 'Strictus', Porcupine Grass is an elegant reed-like grass. It has narrow stems clad with slender arching cream-striped leaves. In late summer the plants are topped by pale feathery plumes of flowers which can be cut and dried for flower arrangements. In autumn, the stems and foliage gradually dry out, leaving a russet brown skeletal shape which can form a fairly architectural attraction throughout the winter. It's perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border.
