Aglaonemas grow wild in the subtropical rainforests of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, where the plant lives beneath the leaf canopy of larger trees in low light levels. The plant is a member of the Araceae family, also known as the Arum-likes, and includes some forty species. Indigenous Aglaonemas also have variegated leaves and generally remain quite small.

Plant care tips
Light
Light conditions for the Chinese evergreen depend on the colour of the leaves. Darker green varieties can grow in near shade whilst lighter variegated varieties require more light. Avoid direct sunlight which can burn the leaves.
Humidity
Aglaonema thrive in warm, humid and bright environment. The warmer the spot the better and avoid drafts. Mist frequently to increase humidity and consider keeping in the kitchen or bathroom.
Watering
Aglaonema require moist but not waterlogged soil. This is achieved by watering thoroughly and then allowing to dry out before watering again.
