Details

Lavender angustifolia 'Munstead' is a compact variety of this wonderful sub shrub. It was named after Gertrude Jekyll's garden at Munstead Wood. This lavender produces dense spikes of fragrant, lavender blue summer flowers above slender, aromatic, grey-green leaves. It is a perfect plant for edging paths and borders as the aromatic foliage and flowers both send perfume into the air as it is touched.

  • Can be clipped into a dome or sphere.
  • Loves free-draining soil.
  • Good in a gravel garden.
  • Also good in pots.
  • Attractive to garden insects.
  • Prune off the spent flower heads once flowering has finished.
  • Take care not to cut into old wood as Lavender rarely grows from old wood.
  • Likes impoverished soil rather than moist and fertile.
  • Fully hardy.
  • Will grow to a height of about 45cm.
  • Please note: library pictures are used.
