Ficus lyrata is ofen known as the fiddle leaf fig because of the violin-shaped foliage. The semi-lobed and oval shaped leaves all seem to grow to different sizes.This charming house plant forms a small tree and the lower leaves tend to drop off as it matures, thus giving it a clear stem with leaves on the top section only.

  • Native to West Africa.
  • Likes high light levels. Conservatory is ideal.
  • Likes high humidity and appreciates being sprayed with water regularly.
  • Take care not to over-water. Allow the compost to feel dry on the surface but damp about 2cm under.
  • A slow-growing plant that may take up to 10 -15 years to reach full maturity, but after 3 or 4 years of growth it starts to become an attractive tree like ornamental house plant.
  • Currently growing in a 21cm diameter pot.
  • Height, including pot, is around 90cm
