Three Wise Kings and Things for Christmas

It's the right time of year for a Christmas story...

(and don't worry, there's still time to order for delivery before Christmas)

This is all about the wise.  Not owls, like this stone plant pot cover and this owl woven planter

The wise old stone plant pot cover £7.50 (+p&p)

A wise owl woven planter but the three wise men who visited the new baby in his manger. They came bearing gifts of gold, incense and myrrh. Rumour has it that the 'kings' or 'magi' might have travelled from Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia or the Yemen. They probably would have had many servants travelling with them too.

Friends and servants would have accompanied those wise men. Click the photo for details of the sign. The tale tells us that they had seen an unusual new star in the sky. They were sure that it told of the birth of a special king. No one really knows what the new star might have been. Perhaps a comet, a supernova, a conjunction of planets - or even a UFO!

You can have a star on your table with this gold-leaf decorated tealight holder. It's magical! Nasty King Herod wanted the search party to find this young baby. Not so that he could worship him, but he was rather in favour of eliminating him. He heard a rumour that this was a new king in the making who might take away his power.

The traditional nativity set shows baby Jesus as a new born, but he might have been aged up to 2 by the time the wise men found him.   When those wise people found Jesus and Mary, it is likely that they would have been occupying a normal house in Bethlehem rather than a stable.

A cosy lantern house with LEDs and a timer. Open to visitors at £18.95. Click the photo for more information.   Then they gave their gifts to him. The gifts seem quite strange to give to a baby. Gold: is associated with Kings. Christians believe that Jesus is the King of Kings.

This glass jar garland has bottles filled with 'gold angel hair'. A bright and shiny Christmas greeting with 16 LED lights.   Frankincense is wafted around in Churches to 'purify' the air. Much like a beautifully scented candle.

Mmmmm, oranges and cloves. There are many different types of scented candles - what wonderful gifts! Click the photo for more information. Myrrh is a type of perfume. It was once used on dead bodies to make them smell nice. It hinted that Jesus would suffer and die. It is actually an essential oil derived from a thorny tree.

There's no better perfume than that of a rose. This beautiful creamy, special occasion rose is known as The Birthday Rose. Click on the photo for more information. What gifts will you be bringing to your friends and family this Christmas?

Perfect Plants wishes you all a very merry Christmas. Also a happy new growing and gardening year!
