Apple (Malus) Ellison's Orange

Espalier Form - Rootstock MM106

Ellison's Orange is a traditional English mid-season dessert apple, somewhat like Cox's Orange Pippin. Flushed orange red with broad, broken red stripes. Creamy white flesh with an aniseed flavour which develops after picking, retaining its melting juicy flesh. A healthy tree being resistant to scab and mildew.

  • Raised by Rev. C.C. Ellison at Bracebridge, Lincolnshire, England and Mr Wipf, gardener at Hartsholme Hall in 1904. Officially intoduced in 1911 by Pennell, nurseryman. Award of Merit was received in 1911 from Royal Horticultural Society and First Class Certificate in 1917.
